When I was a kid I wanted to be... ?

I've always wanted to be an Olympic distance running champion. And, I've always wanted to be a writer and an illustrator. While my sisters were prolific readers, I was busy doodling stories on scrap paper that I'd staple together and make a book. Usually about racing. I created a character of a racehorse I called "Meathead," and made thousands of comic strip stories—again, on scrap paper. Through high school, I graduated from scrap paper to the blank books—and filled at least 20 of them with illustrated stories. Mostly about runners.

Favourite Bible verse?

"Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever."

- 1 Corinthians 9:25

Favourite IMS Memory?

I started work in IMS following major brain surgery in 2012. The surgery was preceded by 10 years of gradually becoming paralyzed and brain-dead. (My brain stem had been squished from traffic trauma while in Papua New Guinea.) My first job at IMS was to learn Photoshop and digitally create illustrations for Bible story videos. There was—and still is—the sheer joy that, little by little, my brain was able to think creatively again. I thanked the Lord profusely for every little bit of progress in healing.  Not only that, but He gave me a new gift I hadn't had before: the ability to compose instrumental music for our videos' soundtracks. I was able to learn two new music composition softwares and create songs I was hearing in my head using the softwares. It was so fun. Currently, I am working with the Animation team—and learning even more software in 2D and 3D animation (although I do need to take notes).

Favourite food?

Diet Cherry Pepsi.  And chocolate with nuts. (Sugary caffeine seems to reduce the pain left over from the brain stem damage.)

Favourite place to visit?

I have no one favorite place. But my hobby is to compete in the Senior Olympics as a racewalker (low-impact sport). Each state has their own state-level track meet, and I have gone to eight different states and competed in the 1,500m and 5K powerwalk races. I love to visit the track meets and share my testimony with as many people as I can of what the Lord has done with my healing.
