If your project has voice actors in or visiting the Dallas, Texas, area, the IMS Studio is now open and available to lease for your audio recording needs. Located on the campus of the SIL International Linguistics Center (ILC), the studio features professional-level equipment and soundproofing. Already, the new studio has helped facilitate the production of several projects.
In late January and early February, a team from the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians visited the ILC and spent two weeks recording the book of Hebrews in their language. Previous recordings conducted with the help of IMS in the U.S. state of Mississippi have generated great excitement among the community.
"Revitalization of the Choctaw Language through God’s Word is the mission for CBTC, and utilizing the audio recordings from IMS has been impacting the young speakers of the Choctaw Language. Several young speakers ask to use the recordings to hear the language while following along with the words that are translated into Choctaw. This allows our people to hear how the language should sound and how to enunciate the words. This brings joy to the ones that want to learn but in their own time and speed. With this we have more people asking us to read to them in Choctaw from surrounding churches," said community member Daniel Tubby.
